STL day 4

Friday morning we took at trip over to Alton to see the Rivers Museum and Melvin Price Locks & Dam. None of us had ever visited before. I was a little sad that we were too early in the year for Eagle watching/nesting along the rivers. That's later this month into next. But, there was lots to see and learn about the Mississippi River and the area. Hands on stuff, a good movie and even a grand tour of the dam. I think the funniest part was my Dad and all his jokes including the word "dam". I tried to get him on video, but as soon at I busted out the camera he turned mute. Funny man. It was cold and windy, so our planned picnic was a bit chilly. Aaron was concerned that he would blow away. We all survived, fortunately. And it was a fun adventure.

Dam, it works! We were lucky enough to see a tugboat come through during our tour. It had a full load, 15 barges. We watched the water level go from 23ft down to 9 ft. It was pretty amazing. I still don't fully understand how it all works. I need to do some more reading.

Looking at these pictures you can just tell how windy and cold it was. Brrrrrrrr!

Hands down, THE cutest bunch of eagles I've ever seen!

You know you are in STL when you see a ghetto vanity plate like this:
