he's back!

We love us some Nacho Libre.

Aaron wanted a stache and then asked to go upstairs to find his "Nacho shoes." They were packed away with his costume. I wondered if the costume would fit? It had only been a year and a half since he wore it last. Stretchy pants are STRETCHY. Jill did an amzing job on the costume, definitely a keepsake. His shoes are a size 7. He's now in a size 10. We squeezed them on, at his request. He pranced around and desired to fly with his eagle powers. A very entertaining night, to say the least. What a fun boy!

derby progress

Work continues on "The Blackbird" car. Not sure if that name will stick, but that's what Josh is claiming it to be tonight. Lots of polishing, sanding, gluing and painting going on this weekend. To quote Josh, "pretty much my birthday wish is to win the pinewood derby." We know his car is gonna be super cool looking, let's hope that it's fast too! more to come...

the obsession continues...

I was squaking at my Mom just this morning about how sick I am of Cars 2 cars. Aaron wakes up thinking about them. He goes to bed with at least one of them. He totes them around the house and crashes them and sings to them and plays with them. His latest phrase is, "Mom, I have a problem. Hurray, quick!" And he'll lead me into the room where I'll find a situation like this:
"They blew up!" "The bad guys blew them up."
Here you can see that he has placed them each facing a friend. They were each having conversations. It was delightful to listen to. And then, Aaron decided that it was Boost's birthday. I caught the tail end of his singing, as he instantly got shy when I busted out the camera. Cute kid. But he's driving me crazy.

it came and went

Snow arrived in Tulsa Monday morning! And it lasted a couple hours. The boys woke up early and got about 20 minutes worth of fun in before they had to go to school. And, of course, it was melted by the time they came home. Sam keeps telling me it's not fair that they always have to go to school and can never have fun with the snow. Life is hard.

Good thing it was the kind of snow that made great snowballs. I was able to get a few licks in on Josh at the bus stop. he he he

Aaron and I went out after lunch and tried to assemble a snowman before it was all gone. We created "Lucy." He ate half of her nose off before we came inside. And then later, he went back outside to retrieve the carrot and finished it off. This kid loves carrots, he couldn't resist.

happy day

Life is about love. And, love surely is grand. Happy V day to all our family and friends.

superbowl

We enjoyed listening to The Power and The Glory CD as we made our way to church yesterday. We were all rockin' out. It is classic. The legendary John Facenda is featured during interludes. It is said "that every dramatic even must have music and that's why the NFL is the only sport to have embraced music to convey the true passion in its stories." Tis true, my friends. We love us some football in the Henrich home.
"Professional football in America is a special game. A unique game. Played nowhere else on earth. It is a rare game. The men who play it make it so." (insert fond memories of our good buddy, T-O-double D here)

This year our house was divided. Sam and I were rooting for the Giants. Josh and Frank wanted the Patriots to win. But really, we all could care less about both teams and were sad that our Eagles didn't make the playoffs. We still made our cake and ate to our hearts content. Fun night.

happenings this week

It's Derby time. Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby. Loved by boys and Dads alike. This will be our first. Josh and Frank have been working like madmen to create the perfect winner ever since Josh brought his block home a few weeks ago. This week they worked on headlights. Finding them from an old flashlight. Drilling holes and grinding them down to fit perfectly. Good thing that Frank has mad skills with drills and small things. They make a winning team. Josh has decided on a blue Corvette with flames. He used Aaron's, Jeff Gorvette (from Cars 2) as the model. He found some red Lego circles attach on the back for break lights. It will be perfect!

...more to come. Josh is happy that the race is on his birthday. We hope it will be a fun day!

TWO of the best books we have checked out from the library in a LONG time. Aaron is enamored with them and has them memorized already. Jeepers Creepers by Laura Leuck and the cow loves cookies by karma wilson. Love both authors; I am fond of rhymes and they make fabulous stories.

Since we've been in monster mode, we busted out the alien monster creator kit this week. Aaron had a great time making "monsters" for the spaceship. His favorite character from the book is Lucy, who he insists that he'd like to have come over to our house to play sometime. Such a sweetie!
